Vestas wins bid for 50MW wind power auction
Vestas is proud to announce that has recently won a 50MW order from one of its Chinese suppliers, Jiangsu Sinojit Wind Energy Technology.
According to data obtained from different sources close to the companies, Vestas will supply 23 V110-2MW turbines, optimised with a power mode to produce 2.2MW each.
Besides, the machine will be set up at the Xuanhuihe project in Yanshan Country, which is Jiangsu Sinojit's first wind development. It's expected to start delivering energy by the end of 2017.
Taking into account this auction, Vestas has managed to win approximately 475MW of orders in China in 2017 so far.

Spain to hold a new 3,000 MW renewable energy auction
Even though, Rajoy has taken no position on when this auction will take place exactly, this new auction will be held before the summer and undoubtedly will contribute not only to improving competition in the domestic electricity market, but also to reduce energy dependence from abroad.
After committing to have 20% of its energy coming from renewables, this target is without no doubts on track to be achieved well ahead of the 2020 deadline, the government stated. The share of renewable power generation stood at 17.3% in 2015, which is higher than the forecast of 13.8% for 2017.

A gigantic wind turbine that will tower the Empire State Building
The University of Virginia is currently working on a groundbreaking project consisting of designing a 500-meter wind turbine made of 2 blades of 200 meters each, which will be able to generate up to 50 MWs.
It is a well-known fact that the future of wind turbines is not only to increase in size, but also to increase in efficiency. For this purpose, OEMs are competing with one another to construct the tallest possible wind turbine in the attempt to benefit from wind cost reductions.
In this case, their goal is to build up a wind turbine able to withstand wind loads of 253 km/h, by equipping it with two extra-flexible wind blades per turbine, thought to bend like a palm tree. The idea is to place them 80 km away from the shore to benefit from most intense winds. According to the designers, this prototype will allow to balance efficiency, estructural weight and costs.
Nevertheless, the logistics is indeed the most challenging part, since raising 500-meter blades 80 km away from the shore is not an easy thing. In the end, if this project comes to life it is meant to revolutionize the world of renewables.

Hybrid Wind-Storage Project initiated in Spain
ACCIONA Energía, which is a subsidiary of Madrid-based ACCIONA, has communicated this week that it has already kicked off the project of setting up a hybrid plant for storing electricity in batteries that is part of a grid-connected wind farm in Spain.
The firm said that the Navarra-based project, includes two batteries in separate containers. One of them is a fast-response 1-MW/0.39-MWh system that is able to maintain 1 MW of power for 20 minutes, and the other one is a slower-response 0.7-MW/0.7-MWh system that can maintain 0.7 MW for one hour.
ACCIONA has claimed that grid-connected storage solutions are to put in practice at the project in order to provide advanced technology services for enhancing the quality of the energy delivered to the grid. Other applications will also be weighed up, including ancillary services to the electric power system or energy supply shift to match the production to periods of higher demand.
Deter eagles from wind turbines
Researchers from Oregon State University (OEU) have come up with the genious idea of equipping wind turbines with a device that will prevent eagles from colliding with them through audio-visual means.
The system features a tower-mounted computer-camera programmed to determine if an approaching bird is flying toward the wind blade and it's an eagle. If both these answers are YES, the device will trigger a ground-level deterrent consisting of a randomly moving, brightly colored facsimiles of people, designed to play into eagles' apparent aversion to humans.
This is specially relevant as If a golden eagle stroke, it would cause the shutdown of a wind farm for a period of time, a fine to the operator, big losses in revenue, and most important the loss of a member of a protected species.
2017 TOKIO WIND FAIR
In early March, our company Incom Group took part in a Technological Mission in Japan. The mission was organised by CDTI on the Spanish side Spain and Nedo on the Japanise side, both organisations in charge of promoting investment in R&D projects.
